Humane Pet Euthanasia

When beloved dogs and cats near their life’s end, we consider it a privilege to help them pass on in peace and dignity. At Suburban Animal Clinic of Monroe, we know just how difficult it is to make that final decision regarding your pet’s care, and to handle the guilt that often accompanies that decision. Know that you are not alone in this process and that we’re always here to support you and your pet. We’ll give you the information you need to make the most informed choices regarding their health and quality of life.

How Will I Know if Euthanasia is the Right Choice?

In cases where a pet is terminally ill or extremely elderly and has a poor prognosis with no chance of improvement, we consider euthanasia to be the kindest option.

The most common signs of a seriously diminished quality of life include:

  • Complete loss of appetite
  • Sleeping most of the day
  • No interest in playing, walking, or socializing
  • Unable to control bladder and/or bowels
  • Unable to walk or stand without assistance
  • Shows signs of being in almost constant pain

Is Pet Euthanasia Painful?

Euthanasia is a humane and painless way to end animal suffering. It’s our goal to make it as stress-free as possible for dogs, cats, and their humans. Before administering the euthanasia injection, we first provide a sedative, which puts them into a deep sleep. This ensures that they will feel no pain or distress at any point in the process.

Will I Have Time to Say Good-Bye?

We will give you all the time you need to sit with your pet and let them know how much you have cherished them during your time together. You can have as much privacy as you need, and we’ll wait for you to give us the go-ahead before we proceed.

After Care Plans

We work with a locally owned and operated cremation company Treasured Pets Memorial Services. They allow us to provide individual and communal cremation for our clients. We trust that they will treat your pet with dignity and respect through the entire process. Learn more about Treasured Pets Memorial Services.
