Veterinarians

Julie Bieszki, DVM
Dr. Julie Bieszki was born and raised in Monroe, Michigan, where her love for animals and dedication to her community first took root. She began her studies at Michigan State University and later continued her veterinary education at University College Dublin in Ireland, an experience that helped shape her compassionate and well-rounded approach to care.

Dr. Bieszki is truly passionate about serving the pets and families of Monroe and the surrounding areas. She values the connections she builds with her clients and takes pride in providing care that is both thoughtful and heartfelt.

At home, Dr. Bieszki enjoys life with her husband and their three children. Their family also includes a hound dog named Radar, a charming cat named Frank, and her beloved horse, Peanut. When she has free time, she loves being outdoors—whether she’s horseback riding, skiing, or enjoying a round of golf.

Kayla Tubbs, DVM
Dr. Tubbs was born and raised in Monroe, MI. She is an Alumnae of Bowling Green State University, where she obtained her Bachelor Degree. She then went to Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee where she earned her Master and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. Most of her free time is spent with her two dogs: Lucy and Aliyah, and her two cats: Harvey and Bruce. She also enjoys teaching yoga, traveling, and learning about different cultures.
Kirsten Thomas, DVM
Dr. Kirsten Thomas grew up in the Pacific Northwest and moved to the Toledo area in 2016. She went to undergrad at Middlebury College in Vermont and completed her veterinary training at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the West Indies and Oregon State University. Since graduating from veterinary school, she has worked as both a small animal veterinarian and at several zoological institutions. In addition to working in small animal practice, she also has her own Zoo Medicine practice and is currently getting licensed in Veterinary Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. When not working, Dr. Kirsten enjoys spending time with her toddler son Oliver, spending time outside, traveling, and relaxing with her Boston Terrier Stewie and three-legged cat Gracie.
Dr. Ellie (Cepo) Pottebaum
Dr. Ellie (Cepo) Pottebaum, DVM
Dr. Ellie Pottebaum (Cepo) is a Monroe native who is truly excited to be back home, caring for the pets and people in the community that helped shape her. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo before continuing onto Iowa State University, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with honors in May 2023.

After spending time in South Dakota with her husband and daughter, Dr. Pottebaum felt called to return to Monroe to practice small animal medicine in a place that means so much to her. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with both pets and their owners, and providing thoughtful, compassionate care at every stage of life.

Her professional interests include dermatology, feline medicine, and preventative care. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys getting lost in a good fantasy novel, watching movies, and relaxing at home with her three cats—Merck, Mikey, and Mavis.

She looks forward to welcoming you and caring for your beloved pets like they’re her own.

Mikayla
Mikayla, Practice Manager

Mikayla is a Monroe, Michigan native whose love for animals began early through her involvement in the local 4-H community. She earned her Associate of Science degree from Monroe County Community College in 2014, followed by an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology through the joint WCCCD/Wayne State University program in 2016.

For more than a decade, Mikayla has been a familiar and welcoming presence at the clinic. What began as a high-school shadowing opportunity has grown into a fulfilling career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician and team leader. She is known for her gentle approach, genuine compassion, and dedication to supporting both her patients and the families who care for them.

Outside the clinic, Mikayla treasures time with her husband, their two children, and the family’s beloved pets—two dachshunds and two cats. She especially enjoys escaping to northern Michigan, where her family loves spending time together and making memories at their cabin.
